This year’s Formula One season is starting to turn in to a cross between a Roy of the Rovers special and a Disney Fairytale. Not content with simply getting the Brawn GP team up and running just in time for the start of the season, and then going on to win four of the first five Grand Prix of the year, Button and Barichello have crowned all those achievements for Brawn GP by winning in spectacular one-two style at the F1 ‘Jewel in the Crown’ event in Monaco. Button got off to a great start in qualifying by grabbing pole in the closing minutes of Q3 qualifying to join Raikkonen on the front row of the grid, with Barrichello riding shotgun for Button on the second row.
BMW’s head of R&D, Herbert Diess, has confirmed the BMW i3 EV will come with the option of a range extender engine. BMW’s head of R&D, Herbert Diess, has confirmed to Automotive News that when the i3 arrives in BMW showrooms at the end of 2013 it will be offered with a range extending engine as well as a pure EV. The range extender engine will be housed in the boot and is derived from a BMW motorcycle engine, and will turn the i3 from a small EV, useful only in confined city environs with a range of around 40 miles, in to a small runaround that has a range of 250 miles.

Renault has confirmed price and specification for the UK for the Megane Renaultsport 265 starts at £24,825 for the 265 Cup. Renault has now turned the limited edition Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy from last year in to the replacement for the Mégane Renaultsport 250, so you can now order up the Mégane Renaultsport 265 as a regular production model in either the Cup or standard version. Just like the 265 Trophy, the new 265 gets the wick turned up a bit to release 265PS (261bhp) which means an improvement of 0.1 seconds to 62mph and an extra 2mph on the top speed (now 158mph).
